Abuja Village Targeted as Bandits Abduct 23 Individuals

Bandit Attacks Persist in Abuja as Kawu Village in Bwari Area Council Witnesses Abduction of 23 Individuals.

The spate of bandit assaults on communities in the nation’s capital, Abuja, continued on Thursday, with Kawu village in Bwari Area Council falling victim as 23 persons were abducted.

Kawu, an FCT village situated near the borders of Niger and Kaduna states, had not been a recent target of bandit attacks. However, the assailants, numbering about 40, reportedly divided themselves into groups for a coordinated assault.

Abdulmumini Zakari, the Deputy Leader of the Bwari Area Council Legislative arm representing the area, disclosed that the gunmen arrived in the community from the Kuyeri Forest in Kaduna State. The attackers split into groups, with some infiltrating the palace of the district head, Alhaji Abdurrahman Danjuma Ali. They kidnapped his son, Lukman, and his wife, who had been married just two weeks prior. Additionally, the bandits targeted the compound of Alhaji Alhassan Sidi Kawu, the Marafa of Kawu and a former PDP Chairman of Kawu Ward. He, along with his four children, was abducted in the assault.

Further details revealed that the assailants also entered the compound of Sarkin Pawan Kawu, Gambo Pawa, kidnapping him alongside his two wives and several children.

While bandit activities had diminished in Kuje, Kwali, and Abaji since December of the previous year, the situation has escalated in Bwari.
