Female Nigerian Soldier Comes Forward, Reveals Alleged Misconduct by Senior Officers.

A female military personnel in the Nigerian Army, identified as Ruth Ogunleye, has come forward with disturbing allegations against her superiors, accusing them of subjecting her to various forms of abuse and harassment.

Ogunleye, who goes by the username @Ogunleyeruthsavage1 on TikTok, recently used the platform to share her harrowing experiences. She specifically named Col. IB Abdulkareem, Col. GS Ogor, and Brig. Gen. IB Solebo as the individuals responsible for making her life unbearable within the Army.

According to Ogunleye, her ordeal began in 2022 when she was posted to Cantonment Medical Centre, Ojo. She alleged that Col. IB Abdulkareem demanded sexual favors from her, and when she refused, he became a persistent source of harassment and threats. She claimed that Abdulkareem attempted to assault her, forcibly injected her against her will, removed her from her residence, and even confined her in a psychiatric hospital for several months.

Moreover, Ogunleye asserted that Col. Abdulkareem impeded her career progression by denying her promotion courses due to her refusal to submit to his advances. She detailed instances of physical assault, coerced injections, and efforts to tarnish her reputation by labeling her with mental illness.

She revealed that her account had been frozen for a year, leaving her without a salary, and she accused Abdulkareem of orchestrating beatings by other soldiers and setting her up for further mistreatment.

Despite the potential consequences, Ogunleye appealed to Nigerians for support, highlighting the need for intervention to address the injustice she has faced. She acknowledged the possibility of arrest but expressed a determination to seek justice for the alleged abuse she endured.

Ogunleye’s plea extends beyond her personal situation, as she sheds light on the broader issue of harassment and abuse within the military. Her courageous act of speaking out aims to bring attention to the need for accountability and reform within the Nigerian Army, challenging the culture of silence that often shrouds such misconduct.
