The agency’s spokesperson, Joke Ladenegan-Oginni, confirmed the arrest in response to the plea for intervention posted by @Ayomiepat_ on Monday.

@Ayomiepat_ shared posts and images exposing the physical and mental abuse Abigail had been enduring at the hands of her brother. The victim’s decision to refrain from living with her brother due to his violent behavior was highlighted, with the plea for urgent assistance from the authorities.

The distressing situation dates back to 2014, with Abigail enduring a series of physical assaults from her brother. The most recent incident occurred on December 21, 2023, prompting Abigail to seek help and bring the matter to the attention of relevant authorities.

Images circulated online depict the visible injuries Abigail sustained, including a cut on her upper left eye and bruises on other parts of her body resulting from the recent assault. A note written by Abigail on December 21, 2023, further revealed her emotional distress and expressed a desire to sever ties with her family for a better future.
