Tinubu Puts a Hold on N-Power, School Feeding, and Other Programs.

President Bola Tinubu has taken decisive action by suspending all Social Investment Programmes administered by the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA). The announcement, made in a statement by the Director of Information, Segun Imohiosen, cited the ongoing investigation into alleged malfeasance in the management of the agency and its programs as the basis for the decision.

The suspension, effective for a period of six weeks initially, encompasses all four NSIPA programs: the N-Power Programme, Conditional Cash Transfer Programme, Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme, and Home Grown School Feeding Programme. President Tinubu expressed concerns about operational lapses and improprieties related to payments to the beneficiaries of these programs.

In response to the situation, President Tinubu has established a ministerial panel tasked with conducting a comprehensive review of the agency’s operations and recommending necessary reforms for NSIPA. Throughout the suspension period, all NSIPA-related activities, including distributions, events, payments, collaborations, and registrations, are to be temporarily halted. The President’s actions reflect a commitment to addressing issues within the agency and ensuring transparency and accountability in the implementation of social investment programs.
