Tragic Loss: Police Inspector Allegedly Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

In a heartbreaking incident, Inspector Bulus Joel of the Nigeria Police Force lost his life in a suspected hit-and-run on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway late Tuesday night. According to eyewitnesses, the 43-year-old inspector was carrying out official duties around 11:55 p.m. when a driver collided with him, causing a severe head injury.

The tragedy unfolded as Inspector Joel and his colleagues were on a routine patrol and encountered traffic congestion on the expressway. In an attempt to alleviate the situation, a driver reportedly veered off course, striking the officer and callously fleeing the scene.

An eyewitness, who chose not to be named due to the sensitivity of the accident, expressed shock at the apparent intentional act and the lack of pursuit by other motorists. The injured inspector was swiftly taken to Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital in Sagamu for medical attention, where he was later confirmed dead by a attending doctor.
